Spring School Readiness Symposium: “Building Equity in Early Learning”

 April 25, 2017

The keynote speaker is Dr. Walter Gilliam, Director of the Yale Child Study Center.  Dr. Gilliam’s research involves early childhood education and intervention policy analysis and how policies translate into effective services; ways to improve the quality of learning services to support children’s school readiness; and effective methods for reducing classroom behavior challenges and incidences of preschool expulsion.

Dr. Gilliam and his team’s recent groundbreaking research explores the implicit biases of early childhood educators and the systems that support them, as well as civil society, and the impact those biases may have on our expectations of children’s behavior.

The symposium will include afternoon workshops on supporting our diverse populations and the tools we can use to achieve education equity and social justice for our students. Registration for this full-day event will open by March 15th at
